Up Your Alley Fair and Folsom Street Fair Bootblack Signups 2024
Summer is here, and festival season is here, which means it's time to start planning for Dore Alley and Folsom Street Year.
Dore Alley / Up Your Alley this year is Sunday July 28th, 2024. Folsom Street Fair will be held September 30th, 2024. If you would like to bootblack at EITHER of these street fairs, please read this email and follow the instructions at the bottom!
This year, in light of the anti transgender laws being passed in record numbers we've made the decision to change the organization we benefit from Project Open Hand to a charity that is working hard to directly save trans lives each and every day. Trans Lifeline will be the benefit of the Bootblack Stand tickets this year. As always, you get to keep ALL your tips and we'll be selling 10$ tickets to get in line to sit for any bootblack. The 10$ ticket fee goes to charity.
We've worked hard with Folsom Street to continue to expand our area so that we can continue to keep our stands socially distant. To bootblack for us, you must be vaccinated and boosted against COVID 19. Proof of vaccination will be required. Although the event is outdoors, masks are encouraged.
We are hoping to run 7-8 stands this year, depending on interest and our ability to book bootblacks. There is plenty of time to work available. As always, we'll have some water bottles available. And we're working on something special for Folsom this year. We handle your list, through the selling of tickets - so all you have to do is show up with your kit ready to work! Jesbian will once again be handling our concierge, making sure you are well hydrated and have a steady stream of boots. You will also have access to the volunteer area and bathrooms.
Please note that there is a 30 min overlap with the shifts. This is to ensure that we have a seamless transition from shift to shift. Show up at the beginning of your shift, ready to work! When the person on the stand ahead of you is done with the pair they are working on, its your turn!
Additionally, we can always use some help with setup and teardown. If we have many hands this usually goes quickly.
Setup: 8am-11am
1st Shift: 11am-1:30pm
2nd Shift: 1:00pm-3:30pm
3rd Shift: 3:00pm-6:00pm
TearDown: 6-7:30pm
Please email imsbb2018 [at] gmail [dot] com to this email with the following information:
1. Which fair you would like to participate in.
2. What shift you want to work!
3. If you haven’t worked the fairs before, please provide one community reference who is familiar with your bootblacking and stand management skills.
Shifts are booked on a first come first serve.
Thanks so much! We are excited to work with you this year.
